My "New", Not New Journey

Greetings everyone and welcome!

I’m going to share a little something about myself and this “new” not new journey for me, on my musical journey.

My name is Jimmy and on and off the stage my musical colleagues and family members call me “Jimmy Six” as named by former bandmate/songwriting partner the late, great Les Robertson for the unique way I arrange songs in practice. The name stuck, what can I say!

I’ve been playing music in one form or another basically since I was born: from getting my first guitar at 3-4 years old, to performing in elementary school plays and concert band concerts playing saxophone. Being born and raised in West Hartford, I benefited from some great music programing that nurtured my love for music and expanded my knowledge base. As High School approached my love for the guitar and all things rock took me to starting bands, branching out my performance experiences from playing weddings, private parties, festivals to opening up for major musical acts playing my own original songs.

Up until recently my dedication and my sole musical focus has been fronting and leading my three-piece original band Fatgrip. Fatgrip falls somewhere in the indie rock genre technically but if you listen, we jumped around which I think is indicative of my taste in music, which is a pretty wide spectrum. We received some acknowledgements, nominations in the Hartford Advocate Readers Polls over the years, played some pretty cool gigs (festivals, house concerts, opening for national acts) along with meeting some amazing people.  After releasing our last album “Name in Lights” before and during the pandemic, the time came for me to step back like many others and reassess my next musical goals.

I’ve decided this next journey starts with me, a guitar and a song.

The songs will be either written by me or with co-writers, written by great songwriters on mainstream radio for me to perform my take or with the help of some other musicians alongside me. No limitations on the direction, event or path. The only non negotiable’s for myself is continuing be the upmost professional, dependable, putting on memorable performances and having fun which translates to others watching and listening. The rest of the journey will be written by history or what happens next.

I hope you come with the journey with me by following my mailing list. If not then I sincerely thank you for stopping by and I hope you come back for updates.

See you,

Jimmy Six, April 2023
